The Confucius Institute warmly invites you and your family to come celebrate the Moon Festival (basically the Chinese version of our Thanksgiving holiday) the evening of Thursday, October 1st, from 7 pm, at the Summerville JSAC ballroom (not the amphitheater, due to projected bad weather).
What To Expect
Among others, you will enjoy a lantern parade, you’ll get to taste Chinese traditional moon cakes, and watch a traditional Chinese dance. Also, if you are feeling creative, there is also a project involved: building your own Chinese paper lantern. If you wish to enter in the lantern competition, please express interest by Friday, September 25th by emailing Ms. Yilin Lou.
Here is a brief video in which Confucius Institute Director, Dr. Cindi Chance, offers an introduction to this event.
