As of May 2020, I joined an amazing team of professionals who are dedicated to the advancement of distance learning in our nation. I am honored to have been appointed to the United States Distance Learning Association (USDLA) Board of Directors by the USDLA President. As of May 2020,
If you are not familiar with the USDLA, please listen to this interview with Dr. Reggie Smith III, our association’s CEO and Executive Director: https://rss.com/podcasts/usdla/55653/
In my role, I serve as co-chair of the awards committee and work closely with the marketing/communications committee. Other committees I serve are advisory, credentialing, events/conferences, governance, membership, nominating, professional development, and state chapters.
This year, I had the honor of reviewing proposals for the USDLA national conference. I am impressed with the organization around the review process. Our review platform is easy to use and a clear rubric is available to presentation reviewers, to ensure consistency and objectivity. So kudos to the events/conferences committee chair and team. Congratulations to those selected to give presentations!
Also in support of the national conference, I created a podcast titled USDLA Soundbites. I’ll post a different news article about that.
Thank you, USDLA! I’ll close with a few quotes from his holiness, the 14th Dalai Lama, on the topic of service:
Our primary purpose in life is to help others.
If you serve and help others, you will ultimaely gain.
If you serve others as fully as you can, what you do will be a source of inner joy.
If you think you are too small to make a difference, try sleeping with a mosquito. 🤣
